Microsoft has revealed that president Steve Ballmer will retire within the next YEAR, once it has actually found a successor.
Mr Ballmer is currently overseeing the change of Microsoft into a gadgets and services company.
He stated in a statement: “There is never a perfect time for this kind of transition, however now is the correct time.”.
“We need a CEO who will be here longer term for this new direction,” Mr Ballmer said.
The world’s most significant software business has developed a special committee to find a replacement. This committee includes Microsoft creator Bill Gates.
Mr Ballmer, 57, did well Mr Gates in 2000.
The two guys met in 1973 while researching at Harvard College, and Mr Ballmer joined the company in 1980.
